The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, has signed a law titled “On the Prohibition of Access to Websites Containing Content with Elements of Pornography in the Internet Space of the Country,” as reported by the presidential press service.
The document was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on June 25, 2025. The purpose of the law is stated as protecting the moral and spiritual values of society and the spiritual health of individuals.
The law establishes a ban on the distribution of pornography-related materials on the internet. When such content is detected, the authorized body makes the decision to suspend the operation of the website or a specific page for up to two months. This decision is mandatory for internet providers, hosting providers, and website owners to implement.
The law also places the responsibility on providers and website owners to block access to prohibited content. Violation of these requirements will lead to penalties as stipulated by the laws of the republic.
