Money transfers to Azerbaijan through international remittance systems showed a slight increase in the first nine months of the year.
According to Vesti Baku, the figures were announced by Samir Nasirov, Director of the Statistics Department at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), during a briefing on the country’s balance of payments.
Nasirov said that $850 million was transferred into Azerbaijan between January and September, representing a 0.2% increase compared to the same period last year.
The largest sources of inbound transfers were:
Russia – $344 million
Turkey – $140 million
United States – $74 million
United Kingdom – $31 million
Georgia – $30 million
During the same period, $361 million was transferred from Azerbaijan abroad.
The main destinations for outgoing transfers were:
Turkey – $104 million
United States – $55.8 million
Russia – $34 million
United Kingdom – $20 million
Georgia – $19.8 million
Overall, inbound money transfers to Azerbaijan continued to significantly exceed the volume of funds sent abroad.
