Traffic in Azerbaijan’s capital has grown markedly more congested in recent years, and one driver stands out: a surge in private cars.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the country’s passenger-car fleet climbed from 1,496,267 vehicles in 2020 to 1,873,405 in 2024 – an increase of ≈25.2% – with the impact felt most acutely on Baku’s roads.
