Japan to Invest $550 Billion in U.S. Economy, Trump Announces

July 23, 2025 — Washington, D.C.

Japan will invest $550 billion into the U.S. economy under a new bilateral agreement, President Donald Trump announced Tuesday on his social media platform Truth Social.

“We’ve just signed a major deal with Japan,” Trump wrote. “Under my direction, Japan will invest $550 billion in the United States, with 90% of that investment translating into direct profit for America.”

According to Trump, the agreement also includes provisions for the U.S. to begin exporting automobiles, rice, and other agricultural products to Japan.

Additionally, the president noted that Japan will pay a 15% import tariff on goods entering the U.S. under the terms of the deal.

The announcement marks one of the largest foreign investment commitments in U.S. history and is being framed by the Trump administration as a win for American industry and farmers. The deal is expected to deepen economic ties between Washington and Tokyo while boosting job creation and trade balances.
