Iran and Russia to Hold Joint Naval Drills in Caspian Sea

BAKU, July 20 — Iran and Russia are set to launch joint naval exercises in the Caspian Sea on Monday, as part of the CASAREX-2025 operation, which will also involve Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to Iranian state news agency Tasnim, the three-day search-and-rescue drills will be coordinated by the Iranian Navy and will feature participation from Iran’s Army Navy, the IRGC Naval Forces, and the Russian Navy, along with observers from other Caspian littoral states.

The purpose of CASAREX-2025 is to enhance maritime safety and strengthen operational coordination among the naval forces of Caspian nations, the report said.

The exercise reflects deepening security cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, particularly in light of broader geopolitical shifts in the region.
