During his visit to the United States, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gave an interview to U.S. television network Fox News. The channel’s website published an article based on several remarks from the Azerbaijani leader.
“Any country — whether in our region or beyond — will find it difficult to say anything negative about today’s achievement. We have essentially taken the final step toward establishing peace,” Aliyev said.
The president emphasized that the agreement on the Zangezur Corridor (TRIPP) is not directed against anyone. He described it as a new connectivity project that will become a vital component of international transport routes.
Aliyev also expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump and his team for their role in reaching the agreement.
Speaking on relations with Russia, Aliyev addressed the December 2024 downing of Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243, stressing that Baku does not regard it as a deliberate attack.
“Our only demand was acknowledgment of the incident, punishment for those responsible, and full payment of compensation,” he noted.
