ICRC to Cease Operations in Azerbaijan in Early September

Baku, August 1, 2025 — The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will officially shut down its operations in Azerbaijan at the beginning of September, according to a statement by the head of the ICRC delegation in Baku, Dragana Kojic.

During a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Kojic expressed appreciation for the long-standing cooperation and support provided by the Azerbaijani government throughout the organization’s mission in the country. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining engagement with the ICRC through its headquarters in Geneva.

The decision marks the end of a significant chapter in humanitarian presence in the region, where the ICRC has played a key role in conflict response and post-conflict recovery.
