Azerbaijan imported 74,481 motor vehicles in January – August 2025, up 26.4 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data from the State Customs Committee.
The total value of imported cars reached $1.38 billion, reflecting a 24.3 percent increase year-on-year. Passenger cars and other motor vehicles designed for transporting people made up the bulk of imports, totaling 68,295 units worth $1.24 billion, an increase of 27.7 percent.
Hybrid vehicles continued to dominate the market. Over eight months, 37,183 hybrids were brought into the country, nearly tripling in volume compared with last year. Their combined value was $733 million, almost double the previous year’s figure.
By contrast, electric car imports dropped sharply. Just 1,412 EVs entered Azerbaijan during the reporting period, down 28.4 percent, with a total value of $44.3 million – a decline of 43.6 percent.
