Tbilisi, August 3 — According to the Revenue Service of Georgia, 30,451 individuals are currently listed in the country’s official registry of problem gamblers, which bars them from participating in gambling activities.
This registry has been in effect since March 1, 2022, and individuals can be added in two ways: either by submitting a personal request to be self-excluded or by a court ruling initiated by family members of the gambler.
Out of the total, 59 people were added based on court decisions, while a significant majority — 30,392 individuals — voluntarily requested their own inclusion in the list.
The Revenue Service emphasized that individuals can submit an application in person or complete a special online form on the agency’s website to be included in the registry.
Additionally, the service noted that 1,522,900 Georgian citizens are automatically restricted from gambling under national law — including:
Citizens under 25 years of age
Socially vulnerable individuals
Public officials
These restrictions are enforced automatically in accordance with the Georgian law “On Organizing Lotteries, Gambling and Profit Games.”
The updated figures highlight Georgia’s expanding regulatory framework to combat gambling addiction and protect vulnerable groups from excessive gambling.
