Baku, September 17, 2025
More than 20,000 spectators are expected to attend this year’s Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku, organizers said. To meet rising demand, Baku City Circuit has added two new grandstands, raising total capacity to 20,113 seats.
According to official data, over 13,000 foreign tourists are expected among the visitors. Each tourist spends an average of five nights in Azerbaijan and more than $2,200 during their stay, Media.az informs. By conservative estimates, international guests alone will inject at least $30 million into the local economy.
Economist and member of parliament Vugar Bayramov said the races contribute not only to tourism but also to Azerbaijan’s broader investment appeal.
“Formula 1 increases revenues for hotels, restaurants, and the service sector, while also promoting elite tourism by attracting high-income visitors,” he noted. “Each tourist shares positive impressions upon returning home, which helps generate new flows of visitors.”
Vusal Hajiyev, a member of the Outbound Tourism Committee of the Azerbaijan Tourism Agencies Association, emphasized the importance of a long-term contract with Formula 1.
“Hosting the Grand Prix makes an unprecedented contribution to Azerbaijan’s international image,” he said.
“Fans are fascinated to watch the cars race through the streets of Baku, while concerts with global stars draw even more guests. Extending the contract would bring greater benefits and ensure steady growth in foreign visitor numbers year after year.”
