Actions taken by Ramiz Mehdiyev that undermine Azerbaijan’s independent statehood make it impossible for him to remain a member of the Academy, Isa Habibbeyli, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), said.
Speaking to journalists, Habibbeyli stated that the Academy has a clear and established position on the matter, Qafqazinfo reported.
“Ramiz Mehdiyev’s actions against independent statehood do not allow him to remain a member of the Academy,” Habibbeyli said.

He added that the issue will be formally reviewed and given a legal assessment in accordance with established procedures.
