Georgia and Azerbaijan Elevate Youth Cooperation to New Level

BAKU, July 25, 2025 — Georgia and Azerbaijan have pledged to transform their joint youth and educational initiatives from occasional events into long-term institutional programs, signaling a new phase in bilateral cooperation.

According to Georgian media, the announcement came from Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, during a meeting with Azerbaijani and Georgian students participating in a summer youth camp in Quba.

The event was attended by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, and Georgia’s Ambassador to Baku, Zurab Pataradze.

“We’ve reached a strong level of mutual understanding and cooperation with Azerbaijan, based on our shared interests, historic ties, and friendship between our peoples. We will continue to actively implement joint youth and educational projects,” said Minister Mikanadze.

He credited the presidents of both nations — Mikheil Kavelashvili of Georgia and Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan — for their role in enabling such cooperation, noting that the successful organization of the camp was made possible thanks to their support.

Mikanadze also thanked Minister Gayibov for his partnership and revealed that Georgia looks forward to soon hosting students from both countries in future exchanges.

The youth camp, part of the Georgia-Azerbaijan Youth Week, is being held in Quba, Baku, and Sumgayit, involving 90 students. The program features excursions, sports and cultural events, educational sessions, and a youth forum.

Running from July 22 to 27, the initiative aims to strengthen ties between young people of the two countries and foster experience-sharing and regional friendship.
