Azerbaijan secured another major victory at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, as Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) captured the gold medal in women’s wrestling.
As reported by Report, Aliyeva delivered a confident performance in the final, defeating Turkey’s Elvira Suleyman with a clear 6-2 victory.
Earlier in the day, the Azerbaijani delegation added two more medals in wrestling disciplines.
Other Results
Elnura Mammadova (50 kg) won bronze, overpowering Algeria’s Cheima Chebilane 5-0 in the medal bout.
In Greco-Roman wrestling, Murad Ahmadli (97 kg) claimed silver, falling to Iran’s Mohammad Hadi Saravi 1-5 in the final.
With Aliyeva’s triumph, Azerbaijan closed the day with a full medal set – gold, silver, and bronze – reinforcing its position as one of the standout teams of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
