Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have agreed to establish a “green corridor” to enable the uninterrupted supply of fruits and vegetables between the two countries, Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration Aizhan Bizhanova announced.
Speaking to Report, Bizhanova said Kazakhstan aims to boost imports of Azerbaijani agricultural products, particularly during the off-season.
“We have a significant need for fruits and vegetables during the off-season,” Bizhanova noted.
“That’s why we are opening a ‘green corridor’ between our customs authorities. Through this route, produce from Azerbaijan will be delivered to Kazakhstan without delays or additional checks.”
According to her, part of the imported goods will be processed in Kazakhstan and later re-exported to the European Union, China, and Russia.
The initiative reflects growing agricultural and trade cooperation between Baku and Astana, both members of the Organization of Turkic States, and supports their shared goal of expanding regional food security and export capacity.
