BAKU, September 9
Azerbaijan is emerging as a key partner for the United States and its allies in both energy and technology, a senior lawmaker said at a special session of parliament.
MP Vugar Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan now supplies natural gas to fourteen countries, a contribution he said is strengthening the energy security of America’s European partners.
He pointed to agreements signed recently in Washington as “opening significant prospects for Azerbaijan-U.S. relations.” According to Bayramov, the partnership will go beyond politics and security to cover regional connectivity through energy, trade and transit, while also advancing economic cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.
“Cooperation in the energy sector will allow U.S. allies to reinforce their energy security with Azerbaijani gas,” he told lawmakers. He added that closer strategic ties with Washington would also channel technologies and innovations into Azerbaijan’s non-oil economy.
“Such cooperation supports Azerbaijan’s goals of economic diversification. Strategic partnership with the United States means bringing American technologies and investments into our country, boosting its overall economic activity,” Bayramov said.
