Argentine Formula 1 driver Franco Colapinto of the Alpine team says he is aiming to score points at this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, calling the Baku City Circuit one of the most striking venues of the season.

Colapinto, who made his F1 debut last year, noted that his first career points came on the streets of Baku. “It has been a year since my first Q3 and my first points. That is a very special memory from only my second race in Formula 1. This weekend we return to Baku to continue the story,” he wrote on Instagram.
Speaking to Argentina’s Río Negro newspaper, Colapinto highlighted the unique features of the track.
“I’m happy to return to Baku, where I scored my first points in Formula 1. The circuit is one of the most beautiful of the season, especially the narrow section through the Old City. This weekend it will be important to take advantage of every opportunity that arises on such a demanding track. We need to maximize results and start the overseas part of the season on a positive note for the team,” he said.
Colapinto currently sits 20th in the 2025 drivers’ standings and has yet to score points this season.
