BAKU, July 17 — Azerbaijani Premier League side Neftçi Baku is reportedly close to signing Australian goalkeeper Tom Glover, a former member of English club Tottenham Hotspur’s U-23 squad.
According to Sportinfo, Neftçi has reached a preliminary agreement with the 27-year-old shot-stopper on key terms, making a move to Azerbaijan for the upcoming season highly likely.
Glover is currently under contract with Middlesbrough in England’s Championship but is said to be open to new opportunities. His previous stints include a spell in Sweden with Helsingborgs IF and domestic appearances for Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne City in the A-League.
Despite having represented Australia at every youth level, including the U-23 team, Glover has yet to make his senior national team debut. A move to Neftçi could offer him regular first-team football and a fresh platform to reignite his international ambitions.
The Baku-based club is looking to strengthen its squad ahead of domestic and European challenges, and Glover’s international experience and European exposure make him an attractive candidate for the No. 1 jersey.
