Former presidential administration head Ramiz Mehdiyev has been charged under several serious articles of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code, including treason and attempts to seize state power.
According to the report, Mehdiyev faces charges under Article 278.1 (acts aimed at seizing state power), Article 274 (treason), and Article 193-1.3.2 (legalization of property obtained by criminal means).
The Sabail District Court of Baku has ruled to place the 86-year-old former official under four months of house arrest.

Mehdiyev served as Head of the Presidential Administration from 1995 to 2019, and later as President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) from 2019 to 2022.
