BAKU, July 25, 2025 — The Main Directorate of the State Traffic Police (MDSTP) of Azerbaijan has issued a public message urging drivers to treat the environment with the same responsibility as traffic rules.
The appeal, shared by the agency’s press service, emphasizes that a driver’s responsibility extends beyond speed and maneuvering—it includes respect for public spaces and nature.
“Unfortunately, we continue to see cases where trash is thrown directly from car windows onto the road or roadside,” the statement reads. “This behavior has serious consequences:”
Road Pollution – Litter affects not only the visual appearance of roads but also their functional safety.
Fire Hazard – A discarded cigarette can easily ignite dry grass, posing a severe environmental risk.
Vehicle Safety Risks – Small debris such as plastic or glass can reduce road traction and cause technical issues for vehicles.
Environmental Damage – Many types of waste, especially plastic, remain in the soil for years, harming ecosystems.
Civic Disrespect – Littering reflects a lack of societal responsibility and cultural awareness.
The statement concludes with a call for collective action:
“A clean road is not only a pleasant view, but also a sign of culture, awareness, and responsibility. The environment is our shared home—let’s protect it together.”
