The European Union has voiced strong support for the July 10 summit between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held in Abu Dhabi, calling it a significant step toward lasting peace in the South Caucasus.

In a statement to Report, Anita Hipper, the EU’s spokesperson for foreign affairs and security policy, reaffirmed the bloc’s commitment to the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“The EU previously welcomed the conclusion of negotiations on a draft peace agreement and the establishment of interstate relations between the two countries in March 2025,” Hipper noted, describing the latest high-level meeting as a “crucial milestone on the road to durable peace and regional stability.”
