Young people have the power to challenge entrenched propaganda, break harmful stereotypes, and build relationships grounded in respect and emotional safety, the European Union’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Marijana Kukunjević, said at an event dedicated to combating gender-based violence.
Speaking at the gathering, the ambassador stressed that gender-based violence remains “a serious violation of human rights” and continues to obstruct the full participation of women and girls in society. “Ending this violence is our shared responsibility,” she noted.
The event focused on raising awareness about gender-based violence through themes reflected in American author Colleen Hoover’s book “It Ends With Us.”
The discussion was held within the EU’s global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”, launched on November 25 – the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women – and continuing until December 10, Human Rights Day, under the slogan: “It begins with us. Let’s end violence against women and girls.”
