On 7 August, Musk took to the platform—formerly known as Twitter—to write simply “Azerbaijan” accompanied by the country’s flag and a gold‑medal emoji, signalling pride in the achievement.
His post was a response to an announcement from the Tesla Owners Silicon Valley account, which exclaimed: “BREAKING: X is now the #1 news app in Azerbaijan. X is taking over, one country at a time”
The update drew attention to the growing popularity of X in the South Caucasus nation, where it recently topped the rankings for news applications. It also underscores Musk’s broader ambition to expand X’s global reach and reposition the platform as a key destination for news and commentary.
