Turkey has allocated approximately €2.4 billion for the construction of the Kars-Iğdır-Aralık-Dilucu railway line, a strategic transportation project that will strengthen rail connectivity between Turkey and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.
According to TRT Haber, Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made the announcement, emphasizing that the project will serve as a key corridor linking Eastern Turkey to Asia.
“This railway will become the next strategic route connecting Eastern Anatolia to Asian markets,” Uraloğlu said.
The minister also highlighted that the financial commitment demonstrates strong international confidence in Turkey’s economic program, signaling foreign and domestic support for the country’s infrastructure development initiatives.
Once completed, the railway is expected to boost regional trade, facilitate movement of goods and passengers, and enhance Turkey’s strategic position in Eurasian transport corridors, particularly amid growing efforts to diversify routes bypassing traditional bottlenecks.
