Bullying Cases Rise in Azerbaijan’s Schools, Psychologist Warns

Must read

Incidents of bullying in Azerbaijani schools have been increasing in recent years, a trend experts link to a mix of social and psychological pressures.

According to Nigar Ahmadova, a psychologist at the Child Rehabilitation Center of the Republican Pediatric Center, the rise in aggressive behavior among students “is not accidental.” Speaking to BAKU.WS, she said that family conflicts, social tension, and exposure to online aggression all play a role.

“Children begin to see violence as a symbol of strength because they repeatedly encounter it in social media as something ‘normal,’” Ahmadova explained.

She emphasized that timely psychological support is crucial to prevent such behavior. “Children with emotional difficulties should not be isolated but instead helped to adapt through special programs,” she said, noting that stereotypes portraying them as inherently violent or criminal are unfounded.

“Their vulnerability,” Ahmadova added, “is rooted not in aggression but in a lack of attention and love.”
