A young man in Azerbaijan claims his relationship ended after his girlfriend sought advice from ChatGPT, triggering a wave of discussion and amusement on social media.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said his partner’s attitude toward him changed dramatically after consulting the AI.
“I don’t know what it told her, but now she wants to break up. I barely managed to calm her down. Can I complain somewhere about this ChatGPT? I wouldn’t wish anyone to be in such an absurd and frustrating situation. It ruins relationships like those nagging friends,” he wrote.

While the incident may seem humorous, it highlights a growing trend: more people are turning to chatbots and AI tools for personal and relationship advice. Users share intimate feelings, doubts, and even make major life decisions based on AI-generated responses.
Similar cases have been reported internationally, where women ended relationships after speaking with chatbots. As AI increasingly participates in emotional and interpersonal spheres, questions about its indirect influence on human behavior are becoming more relevant.
Currently, there are no legal mechanisms for regulating AI’s role in such personal matters. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has previously cautioned against oversharing with AI tools, warning that technology is advancing faster than society and legislation can adapt to regulate it.
