Azerbaijan’s women’s 3×3 basketball team scored its first-ever win in the final stage of the FIBA Women’s Series, edging the Netherlands U-25 squad 21–19 in a nail-biting group match in Shanghai.
The tight contest went down to the wire, with Azerbaijan holding off a late Dutch surge to seal the historic result. Earlier in the day, the team had fallen 13–21 to Canada in their opening Group B clash.
With one win and one loss, Azerbaijan remains in contention for a spot in the knockout rounds. The team now faces CS Rapid at 16:45 Baku time, a game that could decide their path into the quarterfinals.
