Azerbaijani figure skater Nargiz Suleymanova has qualified for the European Figure Skating Championships for the first time in the country’s history, the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation announced.
Suleymanova secured her European Championship berth at the Bosphorus Cup in Istanbul, held from November 27-30.
She delivered strong performances in both the short and free programs, winning the gold medal with a total score of 156.53 points among 26 competitors.
Two other Azerbaijani skaters also posted strong results:
– Arina Kalugina placed 5th with 154.85 points,
– Sabina Aliyeva finished 6th with 137.22 points.
The federation said Suleymanova’s qualification marks a major milestone for Azerbaijan’s figure skating program, which has expanded steadily in recent years.
