Body of Traffic Accident Victim Withheld by Clinic — Protest Erupts in Ganja

A scandal has erupted in Ganja over a private clinic that allegedly refuses to release the body of a deceased patient, sparking outrage among relatives.

According to Teleqraf, the incident involves 35-year-old Ayaz Mammadov, who sustained severe injuries in a road accident on July 24. He was hit by a Mercedes while crossing the road and hospitalized at DNK Hospital, a private medical facility, where he later died.

His brother-in-law, Elchin Boyukkishiev, said the family was initially informed of Mammadov’s death and asked to come collect the body. However, clinic staff later claimed that the patient was still alive and refused to release the body.

“The accident happened on July 24. About 4,000 manats were paid through insurance, and we personally contributed another 10,000. This morning they told us Ayaz had died and asked us to come for the body. Then suddenly they claimed he was still alive, even though our relatives inside confirmed his death,” Boyukkishiev said.

Angered by the clinic’s actions, the deceased’s relatives gathered outside the hospital in protest. The incident has sparked public outcry. An investigation is ongoing.
