Bangladesh has proposed abolishing the visa regime with Azerbaijan as part of a broader initiative to expand political, economic, and labor cooperation between the two countries, Ambassador Amanul Haq told Report’s Turkish bureau.
“Since there is currently no direct air connection between Bangladesh and Azerbaijan, we have proposed signing an agreement to establish one,” the ambassador said.
“Along with that, visa simplification should not be overlooked. Easier visa access is one of the key factors in promoting mutual travel between our citizens. We have already submitted our proposal to the Azerbaijani side and expect a positive response.”

The initiative follows Dhaka’s growing interest in strengthening ties with Baku, especially in labor mobility and investment cooperation.
Earlier this year, as Azerbaijan.US reported on October 01, Bangladesh’s Adviser on Labor and Employment Sakhawat Hossain met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Labor Anar Aliyev in Baku, calling for more opportunities for Bangladeshi professionals in Azerbaijan’s construction, logistics, and service sectors.
At that meeting, the Bangladeshi side proposed expanding collaboration in worker welfare, labor protection, and special economic zones, alongside simplified visa procedures to facilitate movement of skilled workers.
If adopted, the visa waiver initiative would mark a significant step forward in bilateral relations – easing travel, promoting business engagement, and aligning with Bangladesh’s push to deepen its partnerships across the Caspian and Central Asian regions.
