A woman was injured in central Baku after a balcony partially collapsed from a historic residential building, sending debris onto the sidewalk.
The incident occurred on Rashid Behbudov Street 12 in the Sabail district. According to officials, the balcony of a second-floor apartment – part of a building designated as an architectural monument of local significance (inventory No. 3320) – gave way due to natural structural deterioration.
As APA reports, fragments of the falling balcony struck a woman walking past the building, causing injuries. Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly afterward, securing the area and assessing the stability of the remaining structure.
The video of the incident quickly circulated on social media, prompting renewed debate about the condition of aging residential buildings and heritage structures in Baku’s city center.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse and evaluating whether additional safety measures or repairs are required at the site.
