Azerbaijan’s national flag flying over the State Flag Square in Baku has been officially certified as a new world record, following updated measurements conducted by international experts.
According to the Seaside Boulevard Administration, a Guinness World Records expert, together with international specialists, re-measured the giant tricolor and confirmed its new dimensions: 40 meters wide and 80 meters long.
The previous measurements, recorded in November 2024, listed the flag at 36 meters by 72 meters – meaning the newly verified size establishes a fresh world benchmark.
The monument’s towering flagpole also remains one of the tallest globally, standing at 201.191 meters. Its pedestal diameter reaches 5.7 meters, and the overall structure weighs close to 1,500 tons.
Officials say the updated certification strengthens the symbolic importance of the square, which has long been one of Baku’s most recognizable landmarks.
