BAKU, Aug. 15 – The Zangezur Corridor should be seen as a vehicle for regional cooperation rather than a threat, Azerbaijani MP Vugar Bayramov wrote on Facebook.
Citing President Ilham Aliyev’s recent interview with Fox News, Bayramov emphasized that the agreement on the Zangezur Corridor (TRIPP) is not aimed against any country but is a new transport connectivity project that will become a key component of international trade routes.
According to the MP, the initiative will restore long-disrupted land connections between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, reducing transport costs and delivery times for goods from Nakhchivan. This, he said, will boost local business and ease the enclave’s decades-long blockade.
Bayramov stressed that the corridor will be integrated into both the North–South and East–West transport networks, increasing freight volumes and expanding the Middle Corridor. This would not only raise Azerbaijan’s revenues from international shipments but also create new export opportunities through alternative routes.
Beyond its economic potential, Bayramov highlighted the corridor’s strategic role in linking the Turkic world and fostering economic growth across the region, calling its launch a “significant contribution” to both Azerbaijan and the wider Turkic community.
