Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis is preparing to ratify a memorandum of understanding with Turkey aimed at strengthening mutual military security.
The draft legislation was reviewed on Thursday during an online session of the parliamentary Committee on Defense, Security and Combating Corruption.
Following discussions, the committee voted to recommend the bill for consideration at a forthcoming plenary meeting.
The document – formally titled “Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey on Strengthening Mutual Military Security” – outlines expanded cooperation mechanisms between the two defense establishments.
The memorandum was originally signed on July 22, 2025, on the sidelines of IDEF-2025, the 17th International Defense Industry Exhibition held in Turkey, one of the region’s largest defense forums.
Lawmakers are expected to finalize the ratification in the coming days, marking another step in the deepening strategic partnership between Baku and Ankara.
