BAKU, July 27, 2025 — The international “European Judo Hopes” tournament officially kicked off at the Absheron Olympic Sports Complex, marking the first time the event is held in Azerbaijan. The opening ceremony was held with the support of the European Judo Union (EJU).
According to the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (ACF), ACF Deputy Secretary General and Sports Director Kamran Talibov addressed participants during the ceremony, emphasizing the tournament’s importance in helping young judokas improve their practical skills and gain experience. He also thanked the EJU for its confidence in Azerbaijan as a host country.
EJU Sports Commissioner Pavel Volek praised the high-level organization of the competition and noted the special significance of Kodokan specialists participating in the tournament’s technical sessions.
