Jabbarov emphasized that the partnership “opens new opportunities for sustainable development and further improvement of Azerbaijan’s national economic model.”

In a related development, Azerbaijan has been elected co-chair of the Bureau of the UN Intergovernmental Open-Ended Working Group on Housing Policy, established under the UN resolution “Housing for All” adopted in 2023.

According to Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Kenya, the election took place during the second session of the working group (OEWG-H2) at the headquarters of UN-Habitat in Nairobi.

Somalia was elected as the second co-chair, while the co-chairmanship term will run from 2025 to 2026. The previous co-chairs were Kenya and France.

Also speaking at the UN’s 80th anniversary event, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the outcomes of the Washington summit between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including the joint declaration, calling them “a significant step forward in advancing the peace process in the South Caucasus.”

Bayramov underlined that after restoring its territorial integrity, Azerbaijan has launched large-scale reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in the liberated territories, while taking important steps to foster stability and cooperation across the region.
