Baku, October 29. President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Saqr Ghobash, Chairman of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to discuss deepening cooperation between the two countries and regional peace initiatives.
Saqr Ghobash conveyed greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who fondly recalled his visit to Azerbaijan – including the historic city of Shusha – in September this year and his meeting with President Aliyev.
Ghobash praised the high level of organization of the international parliamentary conference marking the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Constitution, calling it a testament to the country’s strong commitment to constitutional values and sovereignty.
He also commended Azerbaijan’s rapid development, describing it as a product of President Aliyev’s “visionary leadership,” and noted that Baku’s architecture had left a deep impression on him.
President Aliyev thanked Sheikh Mohamed for his greetings and asked that his warm regards be conveyed to the UAE leadership and people. He recalled his productive meetings with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi, Baku, and Shusha, noting the UAE’s remarkable progress achieved through the policies of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the continued leadership of his successors.
Aliyev highlighted the historic 1994 meeting between Heydar Aliyev and Sheikh Zayed during the OIC Summit in Casablanca, describing it as the foundation of the close relations that Azerbaijan and the UAE enjoy today.
The UAE delegation congratulated President Aliyev on the establishment of peace in the South Caucasus and the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Thanking them for their words, Aliyev emphasized that both sides are now adapting to peaceful coexistence after 30 years of Armenian occupation and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s determination to consolidate lasting peace and develop transport connectivity – particularly along the TRIPP route.
During the talks, both sides underlined that Azerbaijan–UAE relations are thriving within the framework of a strategic partnership, spanning renewable energy, energy cooperation, and investment.
Projects such as Masdar’s renewable energy investments in Azerbaijan and collaboration between SOCAR and ADNOC were cited as prime examples of this growing cooperation.
