The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, is set to depart for the Vatican today to take part in ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of Nostra Aetate – one of the landmark documents of the Second Vatican Council that laid the foundation for relations between the Roman Catholic Church and other religions.
As Report notes, the anniversary coincides with the “Year of Hope,” aimed at reaffirming global solidarity, peace, and mutual respect.
On October 28, Sheikh-ul-Islam Pashazade will participate in a series of events celebrating the spirit of Nostra Aetate and underscoring the importance of reconciliation and interfaith dialogue.
During his visit, the head of the CMO is expected to meet with Pope Leo XIV, senior Vatican officials, and prominent religious figures representing various faiths – including leaders from the Muslim world.
