BAKU, July 17 — Azerbaijan increased its crude oil exports by 8.5% in the first half of 2025, according to data released by the State Customs Committee. However, revenue from these exports fell sharply due to declining global prices.
Between January and June, the country exported 12.05 million metric tons of crude oil and oil products derived from bituminous materials — up from the same period last year. The total value of these exports reached approximately $6.41 billion.
While the export volume rose, the overall revenue declined by 8.6%, reflecting lower average prices for Azerbaijani oil on the global market. Despite this, oil and oil-derived products still made up a dominant 49.8% of Azerbaijan’s total exports during the reporting period.
The divergence between volume growth and revenue decline underscores Azerbaijan’s continued reliance on oil as a key economic driver, while also highlighting the country’s vulnerability to price fluctuations in global energy markets.
