Azerbaijan’s July Consumer Basket: Rice, Meat, and Chocolate Up; Eggs and Vegetables Cheaper

Baku, August 11  – In July, Azerbaijan saw the sharpest price increases for long-grain rice, beef and lamb, sausages, sunflower and corn oil, as well as lemons, cherries, apricots, fresh herbs, and chocolate, according to the State Statistics Committee.

At the same time, prices dropped for eggs, onions, potatoes, bananas, apples, pears, plums, peaches, watermelons, berries, grapes, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peppers, eggplants, beans, beets, and carrots.

The country’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July 2025 stood at 105.0% compared to the same month last year. For food products, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco, the figure reached 106.2%; for non-food items, 102.1%; and for paid services to the population, 105.6%.

Compared to June 2025, the CPI edged down by 0.1% to 99.9%. Over January–July, the index rose 5.8% year-on-year.

Among non-food items, detergents, cleaning products, and personal hygiene goods recorded price increases, while parquet flooring, orthopedic mattresses, and writing paper became cheaper.

In the services sector, higher prices were reported for dental care, long-haul air travel, health tourism packages, and hotel accommodation. Conversely, ticket prices for flights to nearby foreign destinations saw a decline.
