Azerbaijan’s Judo Team Crowned Champions at EYOF with Eight Medals

SKOPJE, July 26, 2025 — Azerbaijan’s national judo team has claimed the top spot in the judo competition at the 18th European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Skopje, North Macedonia, finishing the tournament with a total of eight medals.

According to the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, Subhan Akhundov (90 kg) was the final Azerbaijani athlete to reach the podium. He secured the bronze medal after defeating Czech judoka Melichar Škoda with a waza-ari score in the third-place bout.

In total, Team Azerbaijan won three gold, two silver, and three bronze medals, placing them first in the overall judo team standings at the festival.

Earlier in the tournament, gold medals were won by Gulshan Huseynova (44 kg), Rza Khalilli (50 kg), and Rasul Alizade (55 kg). Silver medals went to Nurana Hajizade (48 kg) and Zeyd Alekserov (60 kg), while Aysun Mammadova (52 kg) and Muhammad Agakishiyev (73 kg) claimed bronze.

The performance solidifies Azerbaijan’s standing as a powerhouse in youth judo on the European stage.
