The U20 European Wrestling Championships have concluded in Caorle, Italy, with Team Azerbaijan adding three more medals to their tally on the final day of competition.
According to the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, medal matches were held in the freestyle categories of 61 kg, 74 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, and 125 kg.
In the 74 kg division, Omar Gulmammadov secured a bronze medal after a hard-fought 7–7 victory over Ukraine’s Bohdan Oliinyk, winning by criteria.
Anar Jafarli (92 kg) also climbed the podium with a bronze, defeating Georgia’s Sandro Kurashvili 7–4.
In the 61 kg bronze medal match, Bashir Verdiyev narrowly missed the podium after a 9–9 draw with Georgia’s Saba Gambashidze, losing on criteria. Mahammad Abbaszadeh (86 kg) also fell short, dropping a 0–3 decision to Armenia’s Razmik Yepremyan, both wrestlers finishing in fifth place.
In the final match of the tournament, Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) faced Russia’s Inal Gagloev in the gold medal bout but was defeated 0–11, earning silver — repeating his result from two years ago.
