Azerbaijani surgeon Dr. Vagif Galandar, Doctor of Medical Sciences, has been nominated for the Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking innovation in reconstructive surgery.
Speaking to Baku TV, Galandar explained that his technique has been recognized by leading international medical journals and endorsed by both the European Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences of the Turkic World Research, which jointly put his name forward for the Nobel nomination.
The method, he said, revolutionizes breast reconstruction surgery for women who have undergone mastectomies or suffered severe burns. “Previously, such operations relied on tissue from the back, abdomen, or artificial implants,” Galandar noted.
“My approach allows full reconstruction of medium and large breasts in a single session – restoring both health and confidence.”
According to the surgeon, the innovation resolves a long-standing challenge in global reconstructive medicine and opens new horizons for patient recovery and quality of life.
