Azerbaijani Schoolchildren Win 22 Medals at European Boxing Championship

The European Schoolchildren’s Boxing Championship (boys and girls) concluded in Zlatibor, Serbia. The Azerbaijani national team won 3 gold, 10 silver, and 9 bronze medals.

According to Oxu.az, in the final, Abbasali Mammadli (48 kg) faced Davit Dunyamalyan (Armenia). The Azerbaijani boxer defeated his opponent with a score of 4:1 (27:30, 30:27, 29:28, 29:28, 29:28) and claimed the European Champion title.

Nurlan Museyibli (66 kg) defeated Russian Albert Fedotyenkov with a score of 4:1 (29:28, 30:27, 30:27, 29:28, 27:30) in the decisive bout, while Zireddin Rustamli (70 kg) achieved a complete victory over Serbian Dragan Todorovic, becoming the strongest on the continent.

Other boxers – Nasrin Abdullazade (38 kg), Tunjа Murshudova (42 kg), Fatima Mammadli (44 kg), Kamala Hasanova (54 kg), Babek Abdullayev (40 kg), Muhammad Kazimzade (42 kg), Nuran Yusibli (46 kg), Eljan Musazade (50 kg), Sabir Rustamov (57 kg), Yusif Agakishiyev (75 kg) – won silver medals, and Aysan Miriyeva (46 kg), Emiliya Beydullayeva (57 kg), Khumar Jafarli (70 kg), Sahib Bakhyshli (44 kg), Muhammad Ali (52 kg), Farhad Guliyev (54 kg), Amid Alekberov (60 kg), Mehran Rasulov (80 kg) and Erdem Tekin (90 kg) – won bronze medals. With this result, Azerbaijani boxers took second place in the European team standings.

Russia took first place (20-3-4).

The Azerbaijani national team also set a new record at continental championships. In Zlatibor, they surpassed all previous results in both the quality and quantity of awards. Prior to this, Azerbaijani boxers had not won so many gold, silver, and bronze medals at similar competitions.

It is worth noting that previously Azerbaijani athletes won 9 medals in Grozny in 2011 and in Banja Luka in 2024. At best, only two of Azerbaijani boxers became European Champions.
