Azerbaijani Judokas Dominate Guadalajara Grand Prix, Capture Six Gold Medals

Azerbaijani judokas delivered a stunning performance at the Grand Prix in Guadalajara, Mexico, capturing nine medals – including six golds and securing first place overall in the tournament standings.

According to Report, the national team claimed gold in six of the seven weight categories, setting a new benchmark for Azerbaijani judo.

Balabay Aghayev (60 kg), Ruslan Pashayev (66 kg), Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg), Vusal Galandarzade (81 kg), Zelim Kotsoyev (81 kg) and Ushangi Kokauri (+100 kg) all stood atop the podium.

Ahmed Yusifov (60 kg), Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg) and Murad Fatiyev (90 kg) added bronze medals, rounding out a dominant showing for Team Azerbaijan.

The International Judo Federation (IJF) praised the team’s performance on social media, calling it “record-breaking.”

“Azerbaijan broke all records at this tournament! Ushangi Kokauri defeated Lukas Krpalek, earning the team its sixth gold medal,” the IJF statement said.

The results mark one of Azerbaijan’s strongest international judo showings in recent years, confirming the country’s position as a powerhouse in the sport.
