Azerbaijani judokas finished the Open Asian Tournament in Kazakhstan’s city of Aktau with a total of 10 medals, securing third place in the overall team standings, the national judo federation told local media.
On the final day, four Azerbaijani athletes reached the podium. In an all-Azerbaijani final in the women’s 70 kg category, Suduba Agayeva took gold while Aytak Gardashkhanli earned silver. Gunel Hasanli claimed another silver in the 78 kg division, and Elmar Gasimov took bronze in the men’s 100 kg class.
Earlier, Tofig Mammadov (60 kg) and Gultaj Mammadaliyeva (52 kg) won gold, while Huseyn Allahyarov (60 kg) and Ulviya Bayramova (57 kg) secured silver. Elshan Asadov (66 kg) and Ibrahim Aliyev (73 kg) added two bronzes.
In total, Azerbaijan’s team brought home 3 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals, marking another strong international performance for the country’s judokas.
