Azerbaijani Diaspora Leader in Yekaterinburg Placed Under Arrest in Absentia

MOSCOW, August 4, 2025 — A Moscow court has issued an arrest warrant in absentia for Shahin Shykhlinski, the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora community in Yekaterinburg, according to local news portal E1.RU citing the Basmanny District Court.

Shykhlinski was reportedly detained in Moscow on August 2 and later transferred to Yekaterinburg.

Prior to his detention, he had been placed on the Russian Interior Ministry’s federal wanted list. Details regarding the charges or the circumstances of the investigation have not been disclosed publicly.
