BAKU, August 4, 2025 — Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense has dismissed claims by Armenia that Azerbaijani forces opened fire on an excavator operating in the Syunik province.
In an official statement issued on Sunday, the ministry stated that the allegations made by Yerevan do not reflect reality.
“The information released by the Armenian Ministry of Defense, alleging that Azerbaijani armed forces targeted an excavator near Syunik around 13:10 on August 4, is entirely false,” the statement read.
The ministry emphasized that Azerbaijani units did not open fire in the mentioned direction.
The rebuttal comes amid ongoing tensions along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, with both sides frequently trading accusations of ceasefire violations.
