The draw for the second qualifying round of the EHF European Cup has been finalized, setting the stage for Azerbaijani handball clubs in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
In the women’s tournament, national champions Azeryol will face Austrian side Union Korneuburg, while bronze medalists Kür are set to play São Pedro do Sul from Portugal. First-leg matches are scheduled for September 27–28, with the return legs taking place on October 4–5.
On the men’s side, reigning Azerbaijani champions Kür will go up against the winner of the tie between Balatonfüredi KSE (Hungary) and Beykoz Belediyesi (Turkey). Meanwhile, Baku HC, Azerbaijan’s other representative, has been drawn against HC Ohrid of North Macedonia. Both men’s teams will begin their campaigns in the second qualification stage, with matches set for October 11–12 and return legs on October 18–19.
The matchups mark an important step as Azerbaijani clubs aim to make their mark in European handball this season.
