Azerbaijani armwrestlers delivered an outstanding performance at the World Armwrestling Championship held in Baku, claiming a total of 84 medals and securing first place in the team standings, according to Report.
The host nation’s delegation featured around 150 athletes, who together earned 25 gold, 32 silver, and 27 bronze medals across multiple weight categories and divisions.
More than 400 competitors from 30 countries took part in the global event, turning the Azerbaijani capital into the center of world armwrestling for the duration of the tournament.
The strong showing by the home team underscored Azerbaijan’s growing dominance in the sport and the effectiveness of its investment in training programs and athlete development.
Officials from the national federation praised the event’s organization and the support of local fans, calling the championship “a milestone for Azerbaijani armwrestling on the international stage.”
