Azerbaijani athletes have added six medals to their tally at the ongoing European Youth Paralympic Games in Istanbul.
According to the National Paralympic Committee’s press service, on Day 3 of the competition, three Azerbaijani para-taekwondo athletes reached the podium.
Amin Aliyev (K44, 63 kg) defeated a Turkish opponent in the semifinals and triumphed over a Spanish athlete in the final to win gold.
Amin Shikhaliev (K44, 63 kg) and Imran Baghirov (K44, 70 kg) both earned bronze medals.
In para-athletics, 14-year-old Aysha Arabova (T11) won her first international tournament in long jump with a result of 3.47 meters.
In para-judo, Huseyn Ismailzade (J2, 70 kg) defeated Turkish and British opponents in a round-robin format to claim bronze.
Sixteen-year-old swimmer Ali Valiyev secured a bronze medal in the boys’ (2009–2010) 100-meter freestyle mixed class with a time of 1:02.15.
Yesterday, Azerbaijan’s National Paralympic Team claimed two gold and two bronze medals at the same event.
